Serge Rousselle – Pathologist – Founding Partner
Dr Rousselle received his Veterinary degree at the National Veterinary School of Toulouse, France and pathology board certification (ACVP) from Cornell University. He has extensive experience in drug development, drug safety evaluation and regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical industry. He has published numerous peer-reviewed publications, including in Toxicologic Pathology and Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine. He has made presentations at conferences such as the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference and the Society of Toxicologic Pathology’s Annual Meeting. He welcomes the opportunity to collaborate on new projects.
Medical device histopathology presents unique challenges and at Alizée Dr. Rousselle believes that his role as pathologist is to provide clear and actionable interpretations of histopathology data with an emphasis on device integrity and conformation, healing characteristics, biocompatibility and safety. The procedures and techniques that we have developed at Alizée are continuously researched and challenged. Dr Rousselle strongly believes that complex concepts can be best communicated when properly illustrated and a lot of effort goes into illustrating all our pathology reports with relevant iconography and scoring illustrations.
In the laboratory, Dr. Rousselle believes that careful dissection and purposeful trimming are critical to preserving the integrity of the specimen and are often paramount in analyzing failures in early development stages. He frequently elects to trim implant sites himself, with the support of angiographic records or high resolution Faxitron radiographs taken in the lab.
